Horse and Shoe Engravings

22" Clydesdale Engraved on Plywood and a 24 Second Photoshop Thing

Adapting the Artwork

Artword provided for adaptation.

The client provided this artwork, which was the starting point for adapting the source files for this engraving.

To change this into something that would prove a pleasing result when engraved, I set up a few adjustment layers in photoshop in the following way.

I first added Black & White and Posterize Adjustment Layers. Then, fiddling with color sliders in the Black and White adjustment makes it easy to fine-tune what gets engraved and how darkly. (The default setting for Posterize of four levels works out great with plywood and my Glowforge laser.)

Here's quick clip showing the adjustment setup in action.

Here's a time-lapse of the engraving process.
